Gender Bender

It's good to be back everyone!  I've been missing blogging so much and now I'm back.

For my comeback article, allow me to share something that I've been obsessed with lately.

Isn't she pretty?

She is considered to be a top model who has appeared in numerous campaigns and has strutted the runways and eventually became a runway favorite for many internationally famed designers including John-Paul Gaultier and the dashing Mark Jacobs.   She currently is one of fashion’s most familiar faces  after gracing magazine covers from different parts of the globe.  What is more astonishing is that she is actually… a HE.

And no!  He is not a drag!  He is just a queen.

He is Andrej Pejic, a Bosnian-born model.  He was discovered in Australia while working as a service crew in McDonalds.  What endeared him to the fashion industry is that he is a double package at the price of one.  He was born with naturally soft, delicate feminine features that befit his slender 6' 1” body.

During his model off-duty days, Andrej is still spotted donning female outfits, saying that he prefers females clothes because they are more affordable.  But for me, it is like a statement, a statement hoping that people will accept him for who he is.  He identifies himself as a transgender, which correct definition means that his assigned sex at birth does not conform to his identity growing up.  He declares it in his website, where he said that he is "just a silly Caucasian girl who likes to play with samurai swords”.

His cross dressing has landed him as one of LGBT community's style maker and he even makes it on the cover of Out, a magazine for the third sex.
